Hi Pierre,

After your answer i looked a little closer to the problem (and also it's bugging me constantly)
The problem is the location of the userprofile where an app is looking.
There are 2 places.
A/ On the client (c: drive on the client)
B/ the server where the app is running (C: drive on server)

When notes wants to open a file, it puts it in the temp folder on the client (i.e c:\documents & settings\username\local settings\temp\notes4ed4) and tells the application to start it.
The application launches and starts to look for the file in the temp folder. And here goes it wrong, the app looks on c:, but not on the client but on the server it's running. And it wont find the file there because it is on the client.

Restart of the client or reassigning of the rights to the app obviously "resets" the app to look in the right folder on the client and then it works as it should.

What it takes to screw the settings up again i havent found out. (yet)

You can check it easily: when the application comes with the error, try open a file and look on c:\documents & settings\username, you'll see therre will be no notes temp folder there.
